Insight and Interviews - Jashn


Lately we had the HSS girls on the blog for a formal interview that gave us an inside look to what their created company 'Jashn-Event Management Solutions' is revolved around. After the head-start event that was organized by the entrepreneurs in collaboration with 'DHA Today' on the 31st of March, 2013 at the Royal Rodale Club, Jashn received outstanding remarks for the organization and structured planning.

1. Jashn – Event Management Solutions was started by the HSS Group. Could you explain the story behind the company’s name and the how did it all started?
The story is relatively simple. The three of us had worked together in the past at an international firm, and we wanted to do something together once again. The options were endless, but our focus was on doing something that would incorporate our individual interests under one banner.

2. For the three of you, is this a full time job or do you have any side gigs?
All three of us are individually involved in different projects besides Jashn.  It would be unfair to say that this is not a full time commitment as that purely depends on the project that we are working on under Jashn’s banner. 

3. Okay so tell us about your backgrounds? How did the three of you come up with something that is now considered to be a top-of-the-ladder management solutions company?
As mentioned earlier, we worked together at an international eLearning company. So our backgrounds are relatively similar. I, Saba Musharrif, come from a pure IT background, with years of eLearning and team management experience. I now run my own business, Favors & More, and also freelance eLearning services. Sara Altaf, has a business background with experience in working at a bank, and in eLearning. She too does freelance projects along with working on Jashn. Hifza Shah, has an IT background along with experience in eLearning, and Café management. She is helping with social welfare organizations.
Its too early to call it top- of- the-ladder, but its something we enjoy doing together.

4. What advice do you have for aspiring event planners and managers?
Event planning is not an easy task, but then nothing is. If you are decided that this is what you want to do, then by all means go for it. It always help to your homework, so be sure that you are well informed and before you start your own, its always a good idea to get some experience.

5. What are the hardest challenges that you face while running this business?
We have yet to come to that. Alhumdolillah, haven’t experienced any yet.

6. What more can we expect from ‘Jashn’ this year? Any upcoming events that you would like to announce?
Yes, inshallah we have an event planned for after Ramadan. It’s going to be a lot bigger than our first event, and very different in nature too. We cannot disclose details at the moment, but if things go as planned, then inshallah you should hear of it well in advance.

7. Jashn has been gaining attention rapidly due to its distinctive and systematic work that the community has seen. Where in the next 5 years are you planning to take it?
Five years is a long time, and inshallah we will make the most of it. Taking it internationally is something we have in mind. Hoping for the best.
